Chung Shan Institute of International Studies (CSI), is one of sixteen satellite Chinese cultural studying centers under the internationally well known Taipei Language Institute (TLI), which was founded in 1956. In 1967, CSI became registered with the State of California as a non-profit organization to conduct various educational and cultural exchange events.    In 1967, TLI sponsored a joint effort with the China Youth Group to initiate the Overseas Chinese Youth Summer Studying Camp. The purpose of this project was to bring Overseas Chinese Youths back to their land of origin and expose them to the roots of their native heritage. Sponsorship lasted fifteen years. Since then,this program has been continuously administered by the Overseas Chinese Affair Commission.      CSI has been very active in sponsoring traditional Chinese Cultural events in major cities throughout the United States and China.Cities such as New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Beijing ,and Shanghai have been showcasings for these exciting and educationally stimulating events    In 2005, CSI sponsored a Chinese Culture Studying Camp for students from colleges in Taiwan. In addition, a selection of five hundred eighty college students were sent to Beijing, Harbin, Shanghai, Hang-Zhou, and Inner Mongolia to trace the roots of their Ancestors, to broaden their horizon, and to find enrichment from the treasures of their Ancient Civilization

With five millennia��s worth of history, Chinese culture is indeed a glorious phenomenon. TLI has devoted much time to Chinese and foreign cross-cultural interaction and is proud of the successes which have been achieved. Over the last ten years, TLI has also actively and closely collaborated with Mainland China University, educational institutions, social groups, and sinology organizations to contribute to China-Taiwan cross-strait exchange.
